The Rangers made a nice move today sending Donald Brashear and Pat Rissmiller for veteran forward Todd White.
White had an injury plagued season last year finishing with only 26 points but two years ago had 70+ points.
I’m just surprised that anyone was willing to take on Brashears contract. This was a good move for the Rangers as it takes Brashears salary off the cap and is basically replaced by White’s.
White has one year left on his contract and will be a $2.5 million cap hit.
This gives the Rangers some great options on line combinations for this year.
They could put White on the second line with Dubinsky and Callahan or Prospal and Callahan. Or they could drop him to the third line.
The Rangers now have a plethora of centers in Drury, Dubinsky, Prospal, Christensen, Anisimov and Boyle.
I wouldn’t mind moving Dubinsky to the wing or even Prospal to winger.
This also may be a move that allows them to maybe make another trade maybe getting rid of Boyle.
Anyway Brashear is gone so Rangers fans should give Sather some credit for this.
Basically right after I posted an article about him Donald Brashear was suspended by the NHL for 6 games, 5 for attacking Betts and 1 for his pre-game antic with Colton Orr. Good Riddance. Brashear was a cheap player. Everyone talks about how avery is dirty player, he is an angel compared to Brashear.
Brashear’s suspenion will continue into the 2009-10 season if the Capitals are eliminated tonight or if they get swept next round.
How is Donald Brashear not already suspended? That hit on Betts was late and dirty to say the least. The league “met” with Brashear today to discuss his actions. It;s now 3:30 and I still haven’t read anything about the meeting. The NHL is a joke. If the league really wants to eliminate head shots, Brashear should have automatically been suspended, it shouldn’t take a meeting between them. The NHL is becoming some idiotic league where players can run around injuring each other and no face any consequeces.

Too bad we don’t have Marty McSorley. The dumb thing is he didn’t even get a fucking penalty! He got one after the play for roughing Mara! The NHL sucks. The refs suck. The playoffs suck.
