Rangers Dismantle Isles
In a home and home the Rangers did what they needed to do: take 4 points from the Islanders. Despite the Islanders record, we all know that they play hard everytime they face the Rangers and these games were no exception.
In the first game, both teams were a bit sloppy in their own zone and it led to 11 goals being scored in a game that ended with Gaborik’s hat trick sealing it for the Rangers.
Tonight’s game was very different. Both teams defenses played very well and both Roloson and Lundqvist made quality saves that kept their team in the game at different points throughout the game.
Lundqvist stopped 17 shots in this game and 26 of 28 shots in both games against the Isles.
I really like the powerplay point unit of Stepan and Staal. They seemed to be very in sync with each other and this chemistry led to the game winning goal being scored by Staal after the pass from Stepan.
The officiating was again questionable. And it was biased against one team. Sim got called for interference when he was pushed into Lundqvist and Roloson got called for tripping when it looked like Avery took a dive. And Avery got a ten minute misconduct for… well I’m not quite sure, but he did.
Anyway, the Rangers need to build off these two games and take their next home and home which will be against the Senators, who aren’t exactly the cream of the crop this year currently standing at 11-14-1 which is good for 10th in the East.
