Well, if in fact it does turn out to be the end of Modano’s career he sure knows how to go out with a bang.
Modano, who had just 28 points this season prior to last nights game, had an assist on the goal that tied the game a 1 in the second period.
Then late in the third period with under two minutes left, Modano tipped a shot from the point by Trevor Daley and snuck it by Jonas Hiller to tie the game at two.
As if that wasn’t enough, in the second round of the three shooter shootout, Modano blasted a shot past Jonas Hiller which turned out to be the game-winning shootout goal.
I hope this isn’t the last year we see Modano, but if it is he sure had a a hell of a last game.

Goodbye Mike.
Pesky winger Sean Avery was claimed off re-entry waivers by the Rangers Tuesday afternoon. Also, at the deadline the Rangers made two other trades. Petr Prucha, Nigel Dawes and Dimitri Kalinin were sent to Phoeniz for defenseman Derek Morris. Morris is an above average defenseman and this deal was also done to clear up some cap space for the Rangers. Also in one of the bigger trades yesterday Toronto sent Nik Antropov to the Rangers for one draft pick and a conditional draft pick (depending on the Rangers playoff position but no higher than the third round). Overall I would say the Rangers did very well at the deadline. They sent 3 players to Phoenix who were not expected to sign with the Rangers this summer anyway fo a great defenseman and a 20+ goal scorer in Antropov. Avery could bring another spark to team and also adds some toughness. The Rangers play tonight against their crosstown rivals the Islanders and all three players are expected to be in the lineup. Lets just hope that Sean Avery is the same Avery we knew last year…
It looks as if the Rangers are going to sign former Dallas Star Sean Avery. The Rangers could use his help to break out of a 3 game losing streak. The Rangers will face off tonight against the hot Dallas Stars. The Stars have won five of their last six games and have moved up the standings into third place in the Pacific Division. The Rangers are clinging onto second place in the Atlantic Division by 2 points. The Rangers next 3 out of 5 fives could be very tough. They play against New Jersey on Monday. The Capitals on Wednesday. And the Flyers on Sunday. The road ahead could prove to be very difficult for the Rangers.
